Agate Lake Resort opened its doors in 1948. Bob and Joyce Watson ran the resort for a while and then in 1972, Darrel and Irene Johnson along with their five children took over resort operations. They sold the resort to Bill and Theresa Garry in 1993. Bill and Theresa raised their four children at Agate Lake Resort, who were also an integral part of the daily resort operations. In April 2021, the Garrys sold it to Don and Halley Acton.
